HOT Dance! evening at Dixon Place, provides opportunities for choreographers of queer identity, working in all dance forms to workshop new dance works that run 8 to 15 minutes.

About The Artists
Danna Creager – Choreographer
Danna Creager began dancing at the age of 2.5, at two local studios in Huntington Beach, CA. In high school, Danna trained at the Academy for the Performing Arts at Huntington Beach High School, performing on Hip Hop Dance Team, Jazz Ensemble, Modern Ensemble, and Repertory Ensemble. Since moving to NYC, Danna has performed with Continuum Dance Co., DanceWorks NYC and in many other projects. With their company Breath Dance Project, Danna has had works included at ODDFEST Film Festival, NACHMOx: Out Loud, STH Winter Follies, New Wave Dance Festival, and the Seventh Midnight Performance – Pride Month Celebration.

Magali Johnston-Viens – Choreographer
Magali Johnston-Viens trained at the Kirov Academy of Washington DC and has danced with Ballet Palm Beach, Minnesota Ballet, Dances Patrelle, Greater Lansing Ballet Co, and Sekou Walton Dance. They have choreographed ballets performed professionally, starting in 2021, and were a creator at Point Park University’s Choreographic Collective in 2022. Magali choreographed and curated a mixed repertoire performance of LGBTQIA+ and Women choreographers in June 2023 and is a 2023 Arrowhead Regional Arts Council Individual Artist Project Grant Grantee. Most recently, Magali’s works have been presented at Arts On Site with 7MPR’s Pride performance and at Spring for Spring, organized by Rogue Wave. Magali is currently working freelance based out of Brooklyn, NY.

Trevor Ricardo Spencer Jr. – Choreographer
Trevor Ricardo Spencer Jr. is a choreographer based in Rosedale Queens. They have their BA in Dance from Hunter College. Trevor has presented work for Nachmox/NACHMO, Pieces for Peace, the Multi-College Festival, Dance Astoria, Fertile Ground, Sharedspace, 7MPR, “Translate” curated by J Chen Dance, Jennifer Muller and the Work W..I.P. showing. Queensboro Dance Festival 2021 Queens Dance Festival(2023), and for HOTdance(2023). In Nachmo 2020 Trevor’s work was selected for their Theatre show. They were selected to process and present a piece for the Newsteps series in 2020 however it was postponed due to COVID.

Valentina Bache – Choreographer
Valentina Baché Rodríguez(they/them) was born and raised in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. They obtained a BA from Hunter College. Their works have been featured at Movement Research Judson Church, Chelsea Factory,Kaye Playhouse, BK Art Haus, and Recess, and their pedagogy was shared at Performance Space New York. They have performed with “The Young Boy Dancing Group” and “Company Redacted.” Valentina is constantly rediscovering their ancestral bodily archives to best inform how change happens within the body first, through recognizing and witnessing profoundly effective energies such as rage, discomfort, and sorrow. Showcase the power of pleasure and joy through resilient, stubborn, and unbound honesty.
