In 21st century Paris, six members of the African diaspora argue about their political and religious beliefs. Legacies of love, abuse and self-doubt are confronted as are antiquated notions of property law that continue to shape long-stemming issues found in Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and North America. Our characters examine their positions and priorities upon learning that their seemingly perfect friend Shelly commits suicide.

about the artist

Jenna Chrisphonte currently serves as Director of Community Engagement at the Dramatists Guild of America. She has worked for Global Affairs Canada, the French Ministry of National Education and for the State and City of New York. Jenna received her Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor from SUNY Buffalo. She is the author of the forthcoming Talc: A Haitian Zombie Story. Jenna is also working on a dramatic trilogy— Property: The Rule in Shelly’s Case, Rule Against Perpetuities and Adverse Possession.
