About This Show

That Disgusting Thing Called Intimacy
Tuva Hildebrand & Sally O’Neill

A choreography of desire and rejection, expectations and failures. Through satire, abstraction and improvisation, the duo strives to break down expectations of gender and performance steered by neoliberal, capitalistic values. The choreography is an anti-spectacle through given spectacles. In this interdisciplinary collaboration, Sally O’Neill and Tuva Hildebrand explore ideas of authenticity and methods to co-exist by erasing the identity that one constitutes in order to earn institutional validation.

‘59RPM
Current Harbor

A dance theater vinyl revolution through American pop music and its intimate bond with violence and civil rights. In a whirlwind of pop madness, intricate sound design and theatrical exposés, songs are dissected to delve deeper than their sugary surfaces. Nostalgia can lull us into enjoying these catchy tunes for their bubble gum veneer alone, but what’s underneath tells a darker andoftenabsurd story.

About the Artists

Sally O’Neill & Tuva Hildebrand started collaborating unknowingly on a commuting train in 2004. They reconvened ten years later through an AiR at Generale Oost (NE), 2015. Their first draft premiered at Theater aan de Rijn, Arnhem (NE), February 2015, and later morphed into a 15min piece performed at CPR’s Spring Movement festival 2015. Tuva works with Stacy Grossfield, Daria Fain, Heather Kravas, currently directs the play The Father, and has shown work in New York, Belgrade, Sweden, the Netherlands and UK. Sally has performed and showed her own work in Brussels, Budapest, the Netherlands, Malmö, Berlin and Armenia.

Current Harbor is a Brooklyn-based company creating theater, dance, and original music. Our mission is to provide contemporary storytelling driven by the architecture of the human body and the power of sound. Artistic core members Annalisa Ledson, Jamie Watkins and Mark Van Hare have been collaborating for the past four years and have shared work at Dixon Place, HERE, Stonington Opera House, Actors Fund Arts Center, Triskelion and The Tank.
