About This Show

SHAMBLES
Written by Kym Bernazky

SHAMBLES is a survival guide to the junkyard of the human soul.  Kym Bernazky exposes the beauty of unhappiness & the perfection of imperfection, while exploring the myth of a ‘normal’ life. She evokes her findings through a non-narrative, theatrical lucid dream.  Using movement, text, projection & music, Kym presents tone poems of human emotions.  She is as interested in those days spent laying on the couch as those days spent summiting Mt. Everest.

Pony in there Somewhere
Created by Ashley Yergens

Pony in there Somewhere trots between reckless optimism and total despair, creating a humorous reflection of what it means to be critically unclaimed & internationally unknown. Naturally, with all this horse manure (read: emerging artistry), there must be a pony somewhere (read: something worth your time).

About the Artists

Kym Bernazky is a proud self-producing artist.  Whether encouraging the audience to throw pies or surprising them with gospel choirs, her artistic approach has centered on creating moments of surprise & delight in her audiences through physical theater & immersive performance experiences. Kym is  artistic director of Six Characters, the all-silent, postmodern-vaudeville ensemble, which received an OOBR award for Best Ensemble and was hailed by The New York TIme as ‘‘a love letter to classic comedy.’’ She founded Collision Productions to support her exploration into immersive theater.  Her last work presented at Dixon Place was Medea Blitz in March 2015.

ASHLEY R.T. YERGENS, from Faribault, Minnesota, made their queerformance art debut with Is this more ladylike? at the Walker Art Center’s 2014 Choreographers’ Evening. Recently, Ashley showed Crabs in a Bucket/Paige is not a Lesbian at Dixon Place’s 24th Annual HOT! Festival. Ashley’s work is a byproduct of growing up on tater tots & WWE SmackDown, being queer in small town USA & bonding with blue collars.
