HOT Festival presents Queer Summerween: A Night of Horror and Comedy

About This Show

A surreal anthology of original horror short plays ranging from campy comedies to bloodbaths that’ll make you laugh, scream, and give you an unforgettable summer night. Along with finalist-winning plays such as “Devour” and “Gifted Child” come along fresh stories to surprise you for a queer horror play anthology all written by Kai Xing Mun for Hot Festival at Dixon Place Theatre for Friday night, July 18, 2025 at 7:30pm.

Get your tickets and drinks along with free candy and goodies (while they last). Support indie theatre, witness local talent from NYC actors and celebrate queerness with the supernatural.

About the Artist

Kai Xing Mun (they/she/he) is an actor who has written plays that have gone on to win awards and be presented all over New York City’s theatre festivals and venues. Their most notable works so far include: Calico (Queerly Festival at St. Marks Theatre, Limefest at The Tank), Devour (Fresh Fruit Festival at WOW Cafe Theatre, Queer Scare Festival with Village Playwrights), Gifted Child (May Infinite Festival with Undiscovered Countries, Summer One-Act Festival at Chain Theatre), and Astral (International Human Rights Festival).
Kai always intended to one day throw a series of short horror plays as an October baby and because they always loved Halloween, however an opportunity was blessed to them by Dixon Place’s HOT Festival to present their work in July. So this show is an early birthday show for Kai and a tribute for pride while supporting Dixon Place and indie theatre artists.
