About This Show

Pretty Girls Don’t Light Their Own Cigarettes is an ongoing series of theatrical episodes that follow Venus, aka The Great Fairy Venus Celestina. Working in the context of a Drag Race-saturated mainstream, this patchwork performance disrupts the form of a drag show: think your friend’s downtown solo performance art meets “UNHhhh” meets Robot Chicken. This night at Dixon Place, they/she is presenting Episode 1 (Can I Get A Glass of Winehouse?) and Episode 5 AN(xiety)AG(itation)AG(gravation) or The Mourning Play Or maybe it’s just called “Dumb.” with a period at the end. In an exploration of fractured identity, love is love(?), and of course, men.
