Dixon Place Hosts: MESH by More Fish

About The show

Featuring: For 4 by P.J. Verhoest, uketamo by Nicole Leung & PAINT by Matilda Mackey

More Fish is a platform for dance creation, performance, and class led by Doron Perk. Its goal is to bring dance artists together to challenge one another and learn from each other while producing radically creative dance work. Our name refers to leaving things that don’t work behind with the knowledge that there is so much more out there to explore.

We are dancers, choreographers, and teachers who focus on artistic research. Together, we hone our unique voices with a passionate work ethic. Images of fish, ocean, and water express our desire and ability to adapt and evolve. The phrase, “there are plenty more fish in the sea” is saying that although one relationship has ended, there could be many other people to have meaningful relationships with. This theme runs through our work, as we switch roles frequently, allowing us to choreograph, teach, and dance for each other. This keeps us open-minded to new perspectives and liberates new experiences. We believe this vulnerable exposure creates an environment with the potential to generate significant, innovative dance work. More Fish movement artists aim to inspire and support one another, as we collectively explore exciting new ways of learning, creating, and performing dance.
