SETTLING SCORES (preview in process)
by The Bang Group
choreographed by David Parker
performed by Nic Petry, Tommy Seibold, Amber Sloan and Caleb Teicher
a choreographic translation of Morton Feldman’s “For John Cage,” originally composed for violin and piano. The piece transposes and recreates the parts for four dancers, using their bodies and tap shoes to “play” the score in its reconfigured state. We thrived on the incompatibility and misunderstandings that arose, as well as on the anarchic, giddy mixed-meter in which Feldman specialized. This dance will have its New York City premiere at Danspace Project in March 2017.
