Go-Go Opera: Queering The Stage With Jack Shamblin Jack Shamblin

About This Show

Go-Go Opera, the performance, launches Queering The Stage: A Road Map To GLBT History & Heroes, Through Play & Monologues.

This performance art opera celebrates LGBTQ heroes by revisiting Protest monologues and scenes from Shamblin’s anthology Queering The Stage. Interpreted through music, visual art, and a powerful ensemble of artists, it acts as a call to action for our Queer family.

The sexually fluid, gender benders, trans, dl, gay, bi, and straight open minded will leave with fag tools for life. Signed copies of Shamblin’s book with his  “How To Make A Performance” chapter are available. Ebooks can be purchased now at FastPencil, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes.

About the Artist

Jack Shamblin: I am more than an actor and not your predictable dramatist. As can be read in the 90s anthology of my work, Queering The Stage. The chapter Shake & Make lays out a recipe for performance. I challenge my reader to home-bake some performance art for pleasure and community.

My career spans performances and collaborations with leading edge artists. I’m blessed to have work with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jayne Atkinson, Alexis Arquette, Caryl Churchill, Anne Bogart, Godfrey Reggio, Kate Bornstein, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Basil Twist,  J. Carlos Díaz, Theodora Skipitares, Jodi Melnick, Sara Rudner, Mark Wing-Davey, Paulo Henrique, Eva Mueller, Valda Setterfield, and Ellie Covan.
