MJM Dance
MJM Dance – Performing “Monopoly: The Landlord’s Game” – Choreography by Megan J. Minturn
“Wheel and deal! Strike it rich! Win this fast-dealing, property trading game.” Created in the early 20th century, Monopoly originally aimed to demonstrate the inequities of unbridled capitalism. This renowned board game with thematic iterations worldwide is now re-imagined as a dance piece. Inspired by the work and life of Lizzie Magie, the little recognized creator of Monopoly, MJM Dance, led by choreographer Megan J. Minturn, considers the injustices (for-profit prisons, poorly paid work and inadequate housing) caused by our current “game board rules.” This work was developed in part through a Mark Morris Dance Group rehearsal grant.

Kaley Pruitt Dance
Kaley Pruitt Dance – Performing “Through All This & You” – Choreography by Kaley Pruitt
Pruitt’s “Through All This & You” is a fun, light hearted suite of dances that reveals the subtle, often attempting to be hidden, nuances in human relationships. Not to be taken too seriously, this dance has luscious moments of ridiculousness and awkwardness. The piece explores the many forms of love, play, competition, care, voyeurism, and how those can meld together and trigger the each other. The piece is set to selections of music by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Commodores, Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs, The Clash, Billy Joel, Gogol Bordello, Iron & Wine, The Mumlers, & Queen.
