Black Artists’ Matter is a variety night celebrating the work of Black Artists from across the country. Come and experience an eclectic and electric evening of music, theater, comedy, and more.
Donations will be split between the artists involved, and Communities United for Police Reform – an organization seeking an end to discriminatory policing in New York, and a $1 billion budget cut to the NYPD.
Donations collected during this performance was used to support Communities United for Police Reform.

Famewalking is a queer hip-hop artist from Nashville, TN. Famewalking’s goal within music is to create a space for queer voices of color within the realm of Hip-Hop. By utilizing rap and melodic tunes, Famewalking hopes to highlight the joys of being a queer black person while actively creating visibility for similar artists. Famewalking is currently receiving his MFA in dramatic writing from The New School of Drama in NY.
Native New Yorker Lynnese Page got her start in theatre at the age of ten in Harlem School of the Arts. Since then, she has performed in numerous stage productions for Ensemble Studio Theater, Harlem School of the Arts, and Perishable Theater. She has made appearances in the HBO television series How to Make it in America, in addition to being featured in several print ads for Levis, Tarte Cosmetics, and Badoo.
Brooklyn based, R&B singer-songwriter, NEZI has been honing her talent for the past few years. NEZI is from Pine Bluff, AR and moved to New York to pursue her music career. NEZI first fell in love with music while growing up on the Southside of Chicago in her mom’s apartment at the age of 6. Some of her musical influences are Brandy, Monica, Toni Braxton, Jazmine Sullivan, and Mya.
Reanna Roane is a multidisciplinary artist, and educator based out of NC. Their background is in acting, directing, physical theatre, cello, ritual, performance art, and burlesque. They are excited to begin graduate school for clinical mental health counseling and will explore community driven healing modalities through art, ancestral memory, and black liberation.
Calypso Simone is from New Orleans, LA and has her B.A in Theater from Oberlin College. She has recently played “Angela Davis” in “Panther Women…,” “Pecola” in “The Bluest Eye,” and “Lady in Green” in “for colored girls…” She’s very excited to be doing something theatrical in these tough times.
Kaeja Cox is a Young Artist from Richmond Virginia. Kaeja obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She premiered her debut opera role at Old Dominion University as the cover for Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte. She has since received her Master of Music degree from New York University Steinhardt. During her time there she participated in performances including; On the Town!, Dialogue of the Carmelites, and The Magic Flute. Kaeja is currently committed to making opera accessible in her community as she continues to pursue a career in opera.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Kaleem Jones is a visual artist currently living and working in Chicago.
Javana Mundy is a multidisciplinary artist, social justice arts educator, and southern transplant from Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University with a focus in Acting. Her love for new works in theater have garnered roles in Off-Broadway productions at The Tank with “The Whiteness”, Dixon Place with “The Penalty”, Signature Theater with “Invincible Ones”, and The Cherry Lane Theater with “Queen Latina and her Power Posse” to name a few. Favorite credits include Fires in the Mirror (Multiple Roles), Still Birth (Memrie), and her solo show Mama’s 19 (Multiple Roles). www.javanamundy.com. Brandon Bogle is a NYC based theater artist who focuses in Playwriting and Acting. Today he’s more concerned about empowering Black voices and speaking truth to power.
Nina Domingue is a New Orleans native who is currently based in Cleveland. Her solo show The Absolutely Amazing and True Adventures of Miss Joan Southgate has been included on The Kilroy’s List 2020. She was recently named the Barbara Smith Playwright in Residence at Twelve Literary Arts and the Nord Family Foundation Playwriting Fellow and Catapult Artist at Cleveland Public Theatre. Her solo show Ya Mama! (dir: Nathan Henry) launched its tour at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and a run at Cleveland Public Theatre this past fall. Credits include: Paradise Blue (Justin Emeka, Karamu House), Revolt, She Said. Revolt, Again (Sarah E. Wansley, Dobama), Medea At 6 (Ensemble Theatre), It Hasn’t Always Been This Way by Ntozake Shange (Off Broadway, Diane McIntyre). Critics say that Nina is “a young Anna Deavere Smith” and “watching her is like a master class in acting.” Nina is a wife and mother of five, her greatest work to date.
Kiara Wade is originally from Houston, Texas and has been living in NYC since 2017. She received her Masters in Vocal Performance at New York University this May and is also a candidate for the Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy. She received a Bachelor of Music from Southern Methodist University.
