Maarit + Kaitlin are two women at the prime of life who are trapped in a never-ending cycle of loneliness. Am I the Only One is a journey to finding laughter through deep pain. In this three-act genre-bending theatrical mash-up of naturalism, clown, grotesque and the absurd, Maarit + Kaitlin tell the story of six characters who are stumbling perfectly through their desperate, disappointing lives.
About the Artists
Kaitlin Kaufman is a Lecoq-trained physical performer from Long Island, NY. She has clowned for Big Apple Circus Clown Care, with Clowns Without Borders in Southeast Turkey and Haiti, and recently debuted her full-length solo clown show Yay, America! at the NY Clown Theater Festival at The Brick. She is also a Healthy Humor Red Nose Doc.
Maarit Hara is a Brooklyn-based theater maker, actress, improviser from Helsinki, Finland. She is a member of NYC improv teams: poHa – the performance art improvisation collective from Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, the idiots and Two Tall Women. She has been an actress and a writer for 2293 Productions’ Reservations at The Kraine Theater for the past two seasons.
