Longing by the River

Longing by the River is a solo dance touching on several textures of performing desire and destination in a personal narrative of liminal struggles, and overcomings. It is a queer temporal journey through diva performance, choreography, and song.

Adel Hernandez is a Queer Latinx dance-based performance artist. He uses freethinking movement and variations of performing queerness in his process of making dance. He received an MA in Performance Studies at New York University, and a BA double majoring in Theater, and The Arts concentrating in Dance at The New School. Currently, Adel is a Ph.D. student in dance at Texas Woman’s University researching new ways to fuck up social-normativity and create spaces in the field of dance for Queer Latinx movers and thinkers.

A visceral story of queer sexual awakening and love told through a woman’s eyes.

Hana Kozuka, originally from Duluth Minnesota, moved to New York City right out of high school to train at the Joffrey Ballet School Jazz and Contemporary Trainee Program for 2.5 years on full merit scholarship.  She has since danced for MTV, Six Flag, Macy’s, YouTube, and NBC. As a choreographer her work has been presented at Dixon Place, The TANK, Mark Morris Dance Complex, Jennifer Muller/The Works, as well as in Boston. Hana is grateful that she is able to express her emotions through movement and always hopes to convey universal truths through her work.

An exploration into the absurd world of a Black and Korean gay boi looking for love in all the wrong places. Finding himself rejected by neighbors, he goes on an impossible quest to find his place in the world only to get abducted by aliens. dont **** me seeks to highlight the strange way in which race, sex, food, and aliens intersect using various theatrical forms including mime, drag, a bit of dance, and a dust of magic.

Will Shaw is an actor and writer (with no published works) and very confused about life. A rare, native New Yorker via North Carolina, Korea, New England, and other fantastical places like, say, Paris and Tokyo. A graduate of the School of Hard Knocks and Scandal, Tufts University, and the Brown/Trinity MFA Acting Program. Previous projects include: BKPI (dir. Hye Yun Park), View from the Bridge, Glass Menagerie, Cloud Nine (Columbia Stages), Taming of the Shrew (Shakespeare Festival of St Louis), Woyzeck, Othello, A Raisin in the Sun (Trinity Rep), Blood Wedding, among others. Will has also previously worked as a mime and is a founding member of The Light Fantastic Theater Company.
