HOT Festival Minor History of Major Homosexuals: Now With Footnotes and Fringe by Shelton Whimsy

About This Show

Part archival deep-dive, part glitter-soaked romp, Shelton Whimsy’s A Minor History of Major Homosexuals: Now With Footnotes and Fringe follows one fabulously curious gay on a time-traveling journey through queerness in history—from Hadrian’s very committed “friendship” to the Uffizi’s scandalously homoerotic saints. It’s equal parts wit, heart, and historical sleuthing. Together we’ll uncover stories scrubbed from the scrolls, flirt with forgotten icons, and reflect on what the past means for modern queer life. Its camp meets critical inquiry, where the gay agenda is simple: remember, reimagine, and maybe—just maybe— ruin heteronormativity with facts, flair, and a fan snap.

About the Artist

Shelton Lindsay is a writer, performer, and theatrical provocateur whose work explores queer identity, historical reclamation, and the ecstatic possibilities of camp. With a background in performance art, design, and academic research, Shelton blends rigorous archival curiosity with irreverent wit, a professor of queer chaos with a glitter-dusted syllabus.

His shows have appeared in theaters, museums, clubs where he invites audiences to time-travel through the margins, embracing the queer past as a tool for joyful, radical futures.

When not resurrecting long-dead homosexuals for the stage, Shelton can be found making headpieces, photo backdrops and playing with other peoples dogs.
