In 2004, Heidi left her career in fundraising to make her passions of photography & the arts, international cultural exchange, & connecting people a part of her daily life & purpose. Since 2004, Ms. Russell’s work has been in solo & group exhibitions internationally; she has participated in several artist programs & residencies throughout Europe. Heidi holds curatorial positions with Manhattan Theatre Source in NYC & the e-zine, The New York Optimist, in addition to curating independently. Since 2005, she has volunteered for Cuchifritos, a community not-for-profit gallery project of Artists Alliance, Inc. in NYC & supports community-building projects with her photography & time. In 2008, Ms. Russell founded the cross-disciplinary International Women Artists’ Salon.
The International Women Artists’ Salon is a cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural organization of women creating in The Arts around the world today. Our aim as an organization is to bring creative work by women to the fore of each creative discipline arena as well as local communities around the globe through exhibitions & events, exchanges, regular salon style gatherings, & an online forum for members & interested parties. Our shared vision is to create a community of individuals & organizations with the resources & passion to gain critical visibility in the creative world for women artists of all backgrounds, ages, stages of career & cultures, in every creative discipline.
