Turning Tigers Into Pancakes

Joseph Lymous is definitely plotting to kidnap his partner’s baby! When he first moved to New York he found out his roommate had been communicating with a ghost in their apartment before either of them knew there was a recent and currently* unsolved homicide in the space. He, himself, might be responsible for the homicide of twenty six hamsters. Who’s to know? Joseph Lymous is a Love Child conceived in New Orleans in the haze between Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day. He has been through a lot but was forged with Love… and he would LOVE for you to come find out how he keeps Turning Tigers into Pancakes!
Written and performed by Joseph, Turning Tigers into Pancakes uses elements from stand up comedy, storytelling, and a good Black Baptist church service! As a child, Joseph’s favorite bedtime story was “Little BRAVE Sambo.” Joseph’s aunt, an author, delightfully reappropriated this story from the historically racist children’s book “The Story of Little Black Sambo.” The story is a very colorful tale that follows a courageous and clever boy through the jungle where he faces danger head-on and comes out better for it.
Through the sharing of his own courageous and hilarious stories, Joseph invites audiences to laugh out loud while they conspire to never let anyone rob them of their own story!
Please Note: The shows on 11/21 & 11/22 are Live Tapings.
This Dixon Place commissioned production is made possible with generous support from the Jerome Foundation.
