Straight Out of the Closet
In an effort to bridge the divide, drag performers Gina Tonic and Trash Ketchum have decided to do the impossible: become experts on heterosexuality. Join them for an evening of live vocals, straight studies, and the enduring mystery of why everyone knows all the words to “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The result is a hilarious and unexpectedly moving love letter to growing up in a world built on other people’s stories and finding your own.
Jaymie Bellous is a playwright, performer, producer, and the creator behind Gina Tonic, a drag queen, singer, comedian, and viral social media personality. His plays have been presented by Fresh Fruit Festival, International Human Rights Art Festival, Long Beach Shakespeare Company, and Queens Short Play Festival, where Moonlight Becomes You was a semifinalist for Best Play. On screen, Gina Tonic has appeared in Bros, Katy Keene, and has headlined venues including 54 Below, City Winery, and SoHo Playhouse. She also curated the inaugural Museum of Drag and was honored as an Outstanding Citizen by the Borough of Queens in 2019.
Trash Ketchum is your friendly neighborhood drag gremlin, known for ridiculous mixes, show tunes, and classic rock. She has appeared in Netflix’s Survival of the Thickest, TX2’s “Randy McNally (No Love Like Christian Hate),” and annually at MAGFest’s all-drag video game spectacular, DRAGFest. Danny DeVito and Vulpix forever.
