POP OUT Ari Gold

About This Show

Growing up in the 1980’s as a closeted orthodox Jewish boy from the Bronx, The real Ari Gold is pushed into the limelight by his show business obsessed parents at age five at his brother’s bar-mitzvah. After one on-camera debut on the legendary Joe Franklin Show , Ari is soon told he is too ethnic and too  effeminate  to be on camera, relegating his talent to the background.  Singing on over 400 TV jingles, on 80’s cult hit cartoon Jem and The Holograms and with icon Diana Ross, Ari grows determined to be seen–not just heard. A ghostly visit from his FairyGodBubbie teaches Ari the secret 10 commandments of show business superstardom to help him make it out of Yeshiva high school alive, come of age, and sing the unsung story America’s first openly gay pop star.
