Whether you come to cheer, connect, or just soak up the incredible vibes, this event is where art meets the spirit of community. Goon Gym closes out Black History Month with a slam — Don’t miss it!
Josca Moore (Goon Gym founder) is an actor, screenwriter, and director most known for playing the role of ‘Joy’ in the HBOMax short film Pure. After attending NYU Tisch Drama where they performed in plays & student films, Josca set out to create their own work tackling the constant battle that marginalized youth with untreated mental health concerns face. This was the catalyst to creating community and founding Goon Gym, a space where actors can receive an accessible place to build work through the lens of mindfulness. Josca is excited to make strides as an actor in work that uplifts solutions for moving through trauma in a safe and creative manner.
Goon Gym
Imagine an acting environment with the lowest stakes where you leave fulfilled, connected, affirmed, and in tune with your creative instrument. This is an ensemble led space where we lead with mindfulness, supporting each other in devising work and fostering active community building. At Goon Gym, we believe practice makes permanent, and we’re thrilled to leave a permanent mark on the hearts of New York City audiences!
Dixon Place theater programs are made possible, in part, with support from Fan Fox & Leslie R Samuels Foundation, Scherman Foundation, Shubert Foundation; and generous donors like you! Thank you for your support!
