DK and the Joy Machine: Feral Cats and Wild Women: Love Stories from the Lesbian Anti-Folk-Punk Underground

About This Show

Known for rocking out on Appalachian dulcimer, DK and the Joy Machine brings her new, multi-media show to Dixon Place for this year’s HOT! Fest. With “quirky and smart” songs (from her new album SHY ONE) she addresses all the crucial questions in life: getting the girl’s number on the A train, falling in love with feral cats, being an androgynous grrrrl, and how to love yourself harder–even when that means telling others to fuck off.  Joined by special guests, including Tine Kindermann on saw, DK’s eclectic music–from Americana, anti-folk to alt-rock and acoustic punk, blend with video, spoken word and other surprises from the lesbian underground.
