In the Lounge EUREKA !!! Freddy Edelhart

About This Show
Here’s how it starts: I call an audience member onto the stage and ask them to
explain why they’ve decided to be cisgender. I’m asking, of course, because in the year 2050 in New California, we live in a trans utopia. Trans people are the dominant social group, and we’ve created an entire society in our image and with our values firmly in place. How could you decide to be cisgender when raised in this glorious future? How could you decide to identify with the people who oppressed us for so many centuries, until the Trans-Cis War of 2019, which of course we all know about? And we’re better than them, aren’t we? We made better choices when we came into power, didn’t we? So we are not the same as the people who oppressed us…right? A first pass at a new play adapting the Jewish story of Purim to an imagined near-future where trans people rule and things are better. Hopefully. Probably. Right???
