About This Show

seapony is a story of trans-masc pregnancy inspired by the reproductive cycle of male seahorses, who take the lead in childbearing. Told through poetry, puppetry, and dad jokes, this semi-autobiographical solo-show follows a trans Dad-to-be who wishes to bear biological babies. Along the way he meets campy, clownish characters who help him determine if he is fated to be a promising pregnant father, or destined to repeat ancestral patterns. He looks to the ocean for answers about how to create life and how to queer family on his journey from daughter to seahorse daddy.
KELINDAH BEE (t[he]y/them) is a writer, educator, and drag artist known as Theydy Bedbug. They have been profiled by The NY Times, THEM, and Rolling Stone. In 2016 they entered the Brooklyn drag scene and in 2019 won the title “Mx. Brooklyn” in Acid Betty’s drag competition.They are the founder and director of Drag Performance at BAX. In 2024 they were selected as a Queer|Art Fellow by trans trailblazer, Kate Bornstein, who deemed them “MAGA right’s worst nightmare,” in THEM. They are currently touring with NYT best-selling author and podcast host Amanda Montell for The Big Magical Cult Show. www.kelindahbee.art

 

ORION JOHNSTONE (they/he) is a Trans faggot theater director, composer, and community minister: T4T, Tree4Tree, and in the mood to compost empire with you. Recent theater highlights include: Director of RENT (NYU Mainstage), Composer for Light Shining In Buckinghamshire (NYTW w/director Rachel Chavkin), Co-Director of Diana Oh’s {my lingerie play}: THE CONCERT AND CALL TO ARMS!!!!!!!!! (Rattlestick). They studied Theater at NYU-Tisch and Justice Ministries at Auburn Seminary. They are who they are because of the communities and individuals who have loved them into being and listened them into fullness. Covid-19

Masks are welcome and encouraged, though not required. Free KN95 masks will be available for anyone who wants one.
