Media-proclaimed “grieving girlfriend,” Michelle Carter, sent her long-distance boyfriend, Conrad Roy III, text messages encouraging him to commit suicide. Years after her involuntary manslaughter conviction, two law students are tasked with developing a defense for Michelle. Holding opposing views, they scramble to agree on a convincing argument before their deadline: tomorrow.
About the Artists
ANTHONY ANELLO (writer) is a graduate of NYU Tisch’s Dramatic Writing program, where he studied playwriting and served as co-founder/president of the Broke People Play Festival. Many of his ten minute works have been produced at NYU including Dead Drop Outs, Little Purple Betta Fish, The Human Traffic Cone, and 3. His short play, GAY ST., was showcased in Greenwich Village Historic District’s 50th TheaterJam at the Cherry Lane Theater. His full length works include Hoarders, The World’s Quickest Magic Trick, and A Dog Dies.
JARED PERAGLIA is a sophomore attending the Tisch School of the Arts studying Dramatic Literature and Film, with a minor in Art and Public Policy. In the theatre, he is a playwright and director. His most recent work includes To Be With You and Anthony Anello’s Little Purple Betta Fish. On screen, he is documentary filmmaker currently producing Washington Street.
KANISHK PANDEY (producer) is a writer (plays, prose, and poetry), born in Davis, CA. He was a finalist for the O’Neill National Playwright’s Conference in 2018 for his play COLONY. His play RUNFASTRUN was read at Powerhouse Theatre Festival as a Playwright Apprentice. His play GLENN had a staged reading at the Broke People Play Festival of 2019.
COLEMAN CHURCHILL (Student #1) is a graduate of Theatre Academy London and the School of Fine Arts at the University of Connecticut. While recieving his BFA, he performed with the Connecticut Repertory Theatre. Favorite roles with CRT include Andy Paris (The Laramie Project), Lord of the Underworld (Eurydice), and Doug (Gruesome Playground Injuries). Coleman recently played Pip in Pip’s Island: The Lighthouse Rescue in Times Square.
JORDAN DAVIS (Student #2) is a third year NYU student at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. And when she’s not doing that Jordan enjoys philosophy, writing, philanthropy, complaining about her parents, and sunshine. She hopes you enjoy the show.
