IN THE LOUNGE Occupied Allegra May Verlezza
About This Show
Occupied depicts five folks impatiently waiting in line to pee, puke, or hide in the bathroom at Tat’s Place, a well-known and well-worn dyke bar. Friction begins to flare as everyone asserts their claim to the space from different perspectives, which calls into question Tat’s current relevance and value, as well as the unstable magnetism of queer space.
About the Artists
Allegra Verlezza is a soon-to-be graduate this fall from Hunter College with a BA in Gender Studies. She studied Playwriting for two years at SUNY Purchase College, where several of her one-act plays were presented, as well as in festivals in Cleveland and NYC. Her passion for theater as a tool for activism and healing has been enriched through counseling at the Trevor Project, volunteering at the Audre Lorde Project, and interning for The Center for LGBTQ Studies at The Graduate Center. She now enjoys being a sex educator at The Pleasure Chest and watching gay cartoons with her cat.
