But when their most popular member crosses a line with a joke, they suddenly find themselves entrenched at the center of an argument over Free Speech and political representation. Now they must reckon with the consequences of a political world they’ve always been intent on avoiding.

about the artists

Patrick Vermillion (playwright) is an NYC playwright, comedian, and member of the Dramatists Guild. His plays have been seen at Ensemble Studio Theater, IRT, Soho Playhouse, and Alchemical Lab in New York, as well as LSU in Louisiana and Next Iteration Theater in Houston. He is a recipient of the 2015 David Lindsay-Abaire award for his play Drinking Game, and the 2016 winner of Sanguine Theater Company’s Project Playwright for his play Jessica. He is also a director, most recently having directed the interactive You Haunt Our House at The Annoyance Theater in Brooklyn, New York and Kidney Channel Original Movies for The PIT’s Sketchfest.

Carsen Joenk is a director and sound designer based in Brooklyn, though originally from Chicago. She is intrigued by morality, history, gender, pop music, translation, trash, and glitter. Carsen is a co-founder of Rat Queen Theatre Company based in Bushwick, and currently workshopping their new, original piece, Judy Doomed Us All. Select directing credits include Jimmy and the Doctor (Brunch Theatre), The Election (EST/Youngblood), The Bench (Secret Theatre), Romeo & Juliet (Women’s Naked Shakespeare). She has also worked with La MaMa ETC, Fresh Ground Pepper, and Exquisite Corpse Company.
