A Night of Lyricism is the theme for this hybrid cabaret that integrates Spoken Word, Freestyling, Emceeing, Vocals, Beats, & the Drum; w/ Special Guest Emcees & Poets

About the Artist

Kate Hess (Indigo Moon) is a Spoken Word Artist/Vocalist/Dancer/Photographer, who started performing in the poetry clubs in NYC in 2008. Her first poem was published at the age of 11. Kate grew up studying piano, dance, voice, and acting. She attended Emerson College (2003) for Theatre/Media Arts, and was a DJ there for the Underground Electronic/Hip Hop radio station, Revolutions (WERS). In 2005 she attended Trinity/La Mama E.T.C. In 2008, she was a background vocalist for Reggae and African bands, including Sekouba & the Bolomba Band (2011). Kate started her band, Moon Frequentzy, in 2013. She debuted her 1st choreographed piece under her company name Earth Vibration Dancers, this past September, for Under Exposed at Dixon Place. She is creating an EP with a tribal/hip hop producer, Srikalogy. Her mission is to create work that sheds light on concepts often unexpressed, and to empower others, especially the underserved, through the use of voice and movement. Her work is a birthing process of her life experience for cathartic transformation of herself and others.
