The Village, or A Fag, a Hag, a Drag, a Hustler, a Junkie, a John and Jew Walk into a Bar Nora Burns

About This Show

The Village (or…) is a workshop of a whacky new play that takes place in an apartment in NYC sometime between 1979 and now and uses every vehicle from song parody and classic disco to original scores, dance numbers and nudity. Written by Nora Burns, directed by Adrienne Truscott and choreographed by Robin Carrigan this evening promises to be a minty montage, a crazy collage and a merry mess of comedy, choreography and collective consciousness, very loosely based on Our Town, with apologies to Thornton Wilder.

About the Artists

Nora Burns (playwright) is a founding member of the comedy groups Unitard and The Nellie Olesons. She debuted her solo show David’s Friend at LaMama in 2017. She also curates a series called New york Stories at the Stonewall Inn

Adrienne Truscott (director) has been making work that straddles many genres – as a means of creative and financial survival – for over 15 years. She is a choreographer, comedian, writer and one half of The Wau Wau Sisters, a boundary-busting cabaret act. Her critically acclaimed Adrienne Truscott’s Asking For It: A One-Lady Rape About Comedy Starring Her Pussy and Little Else! won the Edinburgh Foster’s Panel-Prize.

Robin Carrigan (choreographer) has most recently choreographed two solo dance shows for drag dance clown Love Connie (writer, performer John Cantwell).  Other choreography includes “trick” feature film (dir. Jim Fall 1999, Tori Spelling’s “Enter You” tap number), “Hater” (writer/dir. Samuel Buggeln, Ohio Theatre), “Bedbugs!!!” NYMF (written by Fred Sauter and Paul Leschen, dir. Samuel Buggeln, TBG Theater)
