In the Lounge The Inexplicable Return of Washboard Jungle Featuring Henry Hample, Stuart Cameron Vance, Bob Goldberg & McPaul Smith

About This Show

A Fundraiser to Benefit Dixon Place

A rare reunion of the world’s first & foremost post-modern jug band.  Washboard Jungle was founded in NYC in 1989 by multi-instrumentalists Bob Goldberg, Henry Hample, McPaul Smith & Stuart Cameron Vance. At the time, they were frequent performers at such venues as Dixon Place, P.S. 122, New York Theatre Workshop & the Public Theater. The band broke up in 1994, but forgot to stop playing and recording together. Their third and latest CD, SUNNYLAND, is scheduled for release in 2016.

About the Artists

Henry Hample lives in rural Louisiana, for no particular reason other than playing fiddle in 6 Cajun bands & teaching music in a Catholic school.

Bob Goldberg still lives in Brooklyn, plays piano, accordion, washboard, percussion, ukulele, recorder, & japan banjo, writes music, teaches, & kind of sings.

McPaul Smith has written many scripts &songs for Children’s TV, but these days he works at BBC America, an ostensibly grown-up media outlet.

Stuart Cameron Vance is a visual artist & designer who frequently pretends to play the guitar and sing. He lives in the Lower Hudson Valley.
