The Magnificent Seven ~PLUS~ Superhighway Julia Meinwald and Adam Stasiw

About This Show

The Magnificent Seven
Created by Julia Meinwald and Gordon Leary

Amanda Borden, Amy Chow, Dominique Dawes, Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, Jaycie Phelps, and Kerri Strug made up the first U.S. women’s gymnastics team to win Olympic team gold at the 1996 Atlanta games. The Magnificent Seven imagines their inner lives on the two days of team competition, as they reach for their young dreams and their faces on the Wheaties box, all leading up to a star-making vault heard ’round the world.

Superhighway
Created by Adam Stasiw

Using an original piece of software, a Kinect camera, and a cast of performers, Adam Stasiw’s Superhighway explores what it means to travel. Visual projections and music are generated in real-time by algorithms responding to the motions of dancers on stage. Using computer vision and machine learning, Adam’s program interacts with the human bodies that share the space. This piece of dance-theater interrogates our commuting habits, ponders our future, and reflects on the absurdity and poignancy of our daily lives.
