Dixon Place hosts STRANGE CITY Cantata Profana

About This Show

Cantata Profana heads downtown to the fabulous Dixon Place theater for a wintry show about disturbing homecomings, urban underlife, and ominous cityscapes, featuring Claude Viviér’s Et je reverrai cette ville étrange(and I See this Strange City Again). Rare masterpieces by American composers mine beauty from construction sites and rat-infested sewers; Renaissance motets depict the glorious sprawl of the city of god; Spectral music for percussion conjures up the ruins of ancient civilizations; Aaron Copland’s classic Quiet City brings to mind the New York scenes of Edward Hopper.
