In the Lounge Song of Songs Renée Darline Roden

About This Show

‘I’m boring. She told me I was boring.’

‘You mean the sex was boring?’

‘No. I am boring.’

Thus begins Nathan’s quest—conversion, really—from boring to interesting. ‘Song of Songs’ follows one man’s journey from the bedroom to the monastery (!) as he charts the course of every human’s desire to not only love and be loved but to be fucking fascinating while doing so. Along the way he meets King David, Park Avenue Housewife, this cool chick Teresa, and Eugène Delacroix.

About the Artist

My name is Renée Darline Roden and I once told someone that I studied theatre and theology, with theology being my ‘practical degree.’ They did not laugh.
I grew up acting in new plays at Stages Theatre Company, the Children’s Theatre Company and the Playwright’s Center in Minneapolis, MN. My own new plays have been produced with Open Booth Theatre Company (‘SHE,’ 2015, NYC) and read at the Bushwick Starr (‘Genna the Goldfish,’ 2015), while a member of Project Y’s Writer’s Group (2014-2016).
