About the Artists

Jossie Ortiz-Bynum; an Afro- Queer poet, a spoken word artist, self-published author, and mother. Started writing to mend the negative impacts of their upbringing, in a society intrigued with gender roles rather than the overall being of self. A Nuyorican poet who writes of their personal experiences, and the impact of negative perceptions we carry around. Their poetry is a versatile collection on spirituality motherhood, self-identity, mental illness, love, or an average day. They write for the voiceless, in hopes that their story brings awareness to the veracity that, Queerness is not a taboo; must of us are not that different.  

Jaclyn Gilbert grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, running along its back roads in the Amish countryside. She earned her BA in English and French from Yale University and her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. She currently holds a research fellowship through the New York Public Library, and her stories and essays have appeared in Post Road Magazine, Tin House, Lit Hub, Long Reads and elsewhere. Late Air, her first novel, released from Little A in November.
