PLAYxPLAY is a free, monthly, staged-reading series that highlights the body of work of an emerging playwright by presenting an evening of their short works as directed by a rotating group of directors and a company of collaborating actors.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

JONA TARLIN ( featured playwright) is a New York based playwright and screenwriter from Silicon Valley. His plays include: Down Range, Private Browsing, and In Antarctica, Where it is Very Warm. His work has been presented by New Works Lab Stratford, Crashbox Theater Company, IRT Theater, Wide-Eyed Productions, Exquisite Corpse Company, The Playground Experiment, The Brick (winner, 2014 Winter One-Act Festival), and more. He is the recipient of the 2008 Lipkin Prize for Playwriting from Sarah Lawrence College. MFA: Hunter College.

NJ AGWUNA (director) is a freelance theater and film director from central Maryland; now a recent graduate from the directing MFA program at Columbia University. Credits include site-specific work with the Motor Company and Brooklyn Community Gardens, A Hyacinth in the Mountains by Claire Jamison, Flip- Flap and his Master by Yosef Idris, The Duel by Anton Chekhov adapted by Matthew Minnicino, Theatreworks USA’s Freedom TrainThe Tempest, associate directed White Card at ART with Diane Paulus. JACOB BASRI (director) is a director who works on new plays and classics. Alum of the Williamstown Theater Festival Directing Corps, the 2017/2018 Van Lier Directing Fellow at Playwrights Horizons, and a member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab. His work has been seen at The Tank, Writopia Play Festival, The Flea, The Williamstown Theater Festival, Ensemble Studio Theatre and more. BRYN HERDRICH (director) makes plays in New York City. Recent directing credits include Untitled American Flag Craft Project (The Brick Theater), Interabang (Ars Nova Antfest), Ignis Fatuus (The Tank) and Endless Summer (Hunter College). Bryn has assisted leading directors including David Cromer, Leigh Silverman, and Will Davis. BFA NYUTisch, member of the Williamstown Directors Corps 2018, SDC Observership Class of 2018-2019 and Manhattan Theater Club’s Directing Fellowship. Resident director and co-producer, PLAYxPLAY.
