About This Show

The Pig Iron School, in partnership with the University of the Arts, assembles theatre artists from varied backgrounds, united by a desire to move theatre forward.  A rigorous training in physical and ensemble-based theatre, the program draws on the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq, Joe Chaikin’s inquiries into performance, Sweden’s Teater Slava’s vocal approach to epic storytelling and, certainly, Pig Iron’s own journey into certain corners of dance, clown, music and theatre.  The school offers each student the chance to look backward toward the roots of live theatre while simultaneously looking forward toward the next innovations, the next rules to be broken and the future surprises in the American and world theatre.
