Or How I Became an Ice Princess Created by I AM A BOYS CHOIR
About This Show
The newest work from performance collective I AM A BOYS CHOIR. With a dash of camp, and intense physicality akin to an ice-skating competition, the team delves into the body myth of the female athlete, the writings of philosopher and gender theorist Judith Butler, and the process of earning institutional validation by conforming to specific identity markers in regards to race, class, and gender.
About the Artist
I AM A BOYS CHOIR is an interdisciplinary performance collective. Their work straddles performance, video, music, and installation. Projects utilize clashing aesthetics, pop culture, personal relics/public histories, and a fair dose of camp to gleefully dissect serious conversations about personal politics, gender, community, and otherness. Recent and Upcoming: La Mama, REDCAT, Movement Research @ Judson Church, and the Wassaic Project.
