About This Show
In no! i be seal, writer/performer Dante Fuoco embodies a younger version of himself: a baby queer at the dawn of puberty, fabulous and cloying and a lonely-hearted mess. Family video underpins—and overwhelms—his quest for diva stardom in a reality that is quickly fraying. A 911 call, Y2K-era anthems, “baseball trauma,” and exultant jazz hands are but a few steps on this (s)hero’s journey.
About the artist
Dante Fuoco is the writer, performer, and producer of the New Orleans hit TRANSPLANT, a darkly comic solo show about gentrification and white guilt in the so-called Big Easy. Last year, the Saints + Sinners Festival anthologized his fiction, and Amygdala, an ensemble he founded, improvised one act plays. A nationally recognized educator, he coaches an adult LGBTQIA+ swim team and does conflict resolution work in NYC public schools. He lives in Brooklyn.
