About This Show
Percussionists Kevin Sport and Mark Katsaounis employ traditional percussion instruments, primarily of Middle Eastern origin, to create dynamic, modern music. Kevin utilizes the Turkish Split Hand/Misirli Ahmet technique on dumbek and Mark’s approach to frame drums is based on his years of study with master percussionist Glen Velez. Their music is highly technical and intricate and yet also highly accessible.
About the Artists
Limbs was unofficially formed in January, 2011, when Kevin reached out to fellow dance accompanist Mark to collaborate on expanding several dumbek solos that he had composed. They have been busy writing and recording original, new music and the band’s debut release Jeton, is available for download at www.limbspercussion.com. They perform and teach workshops in NYC and beyond.
