Dixon Place Proudly Hosts: inQUAD

About This Show

inQUAD, presented by Inclined Dance Project, is a performance series featuring the work of four female choreographers. These four like-minded artists share similar backgrounds, experiences, and creative theories but showcase uniquely different styles. Each choreographer’s distinct virtuosity and singular exhibition give way to a dynamic showcase of innovative and contemporary dance. inQUAD had its debut in 2015, and now for 2016 the Split-Bill series presents a new group of up and coming dance creators for it’s second year of inception.

The series features the works of dance choreographers Cecilia Seaward, Angie Conte (Angie Moon Dance Theatre), and Amy Campbell (Crooked Mouth), as well as Kristen Klein of presenting company Inclined Dance Project.

About This Artists

Angie Moon Dance was established in 2011 in Boston MA. After a short hiatus for artistic director Angie Moon to attend the graduate dance program at Tisch School of the Arts, the company is back, and making NYC its new home. The work of the company has been described as “Quite beautifully enthralling, like a well-written tragic novel that refuses to be set aside.” AMDT has presented work both Nationally and Internationally in venues ranging from local farmers markets, to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, to Danspace Project at St Marks Church.

Cecilia Seaward is a creator based in NYC, but grew up in Sweden, France, and Boston, MA. Cecilia has acted and danced in film and television projects, performed with various dance and theater troupes in Boston, Providence, and NYC and has in recent years begun to produce live performances and films. Cecilia enjoys exploring the human experience through performing, writing, choreographing, and filmmaking, and will be presenting a work divided into three parts for inQUAD: one performance segment, one film segment, and one segment merging both simultaneously.

Crooked Mouth is a collective of outrageous, dynamic, and theatrical movers under the direction of Amy Campbell. The company has presented work at Triskelion Arts, the Center for Performance Research, the COW, University Settlement, and Dixon Place among others. Crooked Mouth shapeshifts their modern dance roots with nightlife, punk rock, irrational feelings, and everyday life. We make all the gigantic, ferocious, awkward, sweaty, vulnerable moves.

Presenting the World Premiere of Preemptively Yours

Inclined Dance Project, founded in 2009 by Artistic Director Kristen Klein, creates dance works of contemporary athleticism inspired by ever diverse human experiences. Approaching dance-making through a set and destroy method, Inclined allows the performers the opportunity to deconstruct material and incite dialogue, exploration, and personal contribution to a work. The end result is athletic, technical, and dynamic movement that challenges the performers and engages audiences.
