About This Show
The last 18 months of this Presidential campaign has been a surreal turmoil for the country. The candidates have become extreme, weird, and secretive. The real issues have not been addressed.
But October Surprise DELIVERS! October Surprise is part live political debate, part game show. The audience controls the action by direct democracy, and quick voting, through the random drawing of large cards, and through voting, the audience sets up what the ‘‘candidates’’ (i.e. the improv players) do on stage. The audience awards points to each side, and the moderator keeps the action going!
Gershwin Live is an evolving 21st century salon, artists with fearless & distinctive voices are given free rein to present theater, dance, film, cabaret, ghost stories, music & uncategorizable hybrids. Curated by Michael Wiener & Neke Carson.
about the artist
Sander Hicks is founder of Soft Skull Press, Vox Pop, and Zen Carpentry. He’s a Rinzai Zen lay practitioner under teacher Sherry Chayat Roshi. His most recent book is Slingshot to the Juggernaut: Total Resistance to the Death Machine Means Complete Love of the Truth (Soft Skull, 2012).
