“Major vocal talent… whose range shatters conventional boundaries” (NY Times) and “Best Downtown Performance Artist” (Village Voice) Joseph Keckler presents an evening that pulls together highlights of his work–  operatic renderings of contemporary life and haunted torch songs, infused with humor and longing. He is joined by longtime collaborator, violinist-arranger Dan Bartfield and versatile pianist Matthew Marsh.

About the Artist

Joseph Keckler is a vocalist, writer, and artist. His work often combines autobiography, humor, and classical images and themes. He has performed at Centre Pompidou, SXSW, Third Man Records, BAM, & many other venues. His work has been featured on WNYC Soundcheck and BBC America. Awards: Creative Capital Award, Performing Arts; NYFA Fellowship for Interdisciplinary Work; Franklin Furnace Performance Art grant; Village Voice Award for “Best Downtown Performance Artist, 2013.” Residencies: Times Square Arts Alliance, University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design, Yaddo, MacDowell. He is currently finishing an album of music and developing Let Me Die, a performance piece involving operatic death scenes. A collection of his essays and performance documents is forthcoming from Turtle Point Press in 2017.
