Femme Fest 2020 (A Shared Bill) Lisa Natoli & Marisa Lark Wallin

Marisa Lark Wallin

The Burden of the Disease

Symptoms of autoimmune diseases like fatigue, depression and anxiety are often rooted in the “burden of the disease.” People bear the emotional and financial weight of illness – of carrying the knowledge there’s something happening inside our bodies that we can’t control.

Marisa Lark Wallin’s multimedia solo performance investigates: What can a sick woman do with the disturbances in her body from illness and medical intervention? And what about the disturbances of others? Do we disturb each other? Is the world around us becoming sicker and sicker, too? Can we heal each other if there is no obvious cure?

Marisa Lark Wallin is a writer, artist and educator. She has performed and shared work at places like Dixon Place, The Brick, the Invisible Dog, the Bushwick Starr, and LaMama E.T.C. She holds a BFA from NYU Tisch Drama and an MS Ed. from Brooklyn College. See her most recent writing in new episodes of Clifford the Big Red Dog on Amazon and PBS. marisalark.com

Lisa Natoli

Nostalgia Will Kill A Room

Nostalgia Will Kill A Room is a collection of short movement essays in the air, on the floor, and in conversation, pondering the body as politic. The evening moves between mediums of theater, circus, dance and pedestrian antics, forming and fitting the confines of physical and mental space, while performing and informing process.

Lisa Natoli, also known as Iron Fanny, is an aerial performance artist living everywhere and nowhere. She is a sought after aerialist known for her unconventional approach and intensity of artistic curiosity. She’s that character in films and books we root for, except this one’s flesh and blood. Her art isn’t printed, published, or filmed. It can’t be sold off a merch table. It exists for a moment of beauty, right in front of you, and then it’s gone. Lisa worked on a creation project with Spiegelworld directed by Steven Hoggett at St. Ann’s Warehouse(NYC) in 2017.  She has presented solo and ensemble work at The Toronto Contemporary Circus Festival, The House of Yes, Galapagos Art Space, CBGB’s Gallery, The Brooklyn Lyceum, Gowanus Ballroom, MonkeyTown, Invisible City, The Clocktower Cabaret, Black Hearts Burlesque, Crescent City Burlesque Weekender. She recently presented ‘Some Animals Are Easily Startled’ at Art Klub NOLA (Sept 2019) as a resident artist. www.lisasbrightideas.com
