About the Artists
Regina Nejman grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is based in New York City where she has been creating her own choreography since 1993 and founded Regina Nejman & Company in 1997. She has performed extensively both here in the United States and abroad. Nejman received her BA from SUNY/Empire State College in 1998. She received grants from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Greenwall foundation, LMCC/ MCAF, Puffin Foundation, Meet the Composer, Joyce Theater Residency and others. She taught dance at Princeton University, Wesleyan University, Harvard Summer Dance, NYU Common Hour Class, and LaGuardia PA High School. Currently, Regina teaches at various middle and high schools in the City. Upcoming: Performance Mix Festival at HERE on June 9th and a tour to Boston on June 12th.
The Zendora Dance Company has presented over 30 works to New York City audiences in both solo and company performances at such venues as Danspace Project, Joyce SoHo, Dance Theater Workshop and June 2014 at the Fisher Space at BAM. The company has performed in festivals, gardens, museums and alternate spaces internationally in Mongolia, Egypt, Mexico, Brazil, Nicaragua, Spain, Greece and Russia.
Lillian Stamey is a Brooklyn based artist who specializes in movement performance and choreography. Lillian is currently dancing with The Francesca Harper Project, and has been honored to work with choreographers Francesca Harper, John Zullo, Salvator LaRussa, and Lindsay Gilmour. Lillian’s choreography investigates the ways in which we internalize our surrounding environment. She is interested in the relationship between “mind,” “body,” and “emotion,” and the various ways they intersect within the self and the social world. She is drawn to experiences of the human condition and pursues to reveal the emotional body. As an artist, Lillian practices a holistic approach to movement and strives to expose honesty in her work.
Originally from Switzerland, Alessia Della Casa completed a 3-year degree at the Ballet Academy in Riga (Latvia) and then moved to New York where she received a scholarship to complete a 2 year certificate in Cunningham technique. In New York Alessia danced for various NYC based artists and started developing her choreographies, her work was presented at Triskelion Arts(USA), Green Space(USA), Salvatore LaRussa Theatre(USA), Martha Graham Center(USA) LongLake Festival(CH), Ticino in Danza(CH). She was selected to take part in the Choreographic Lab 2014 ( Luzern, CH) and was invited to a summer residency in Losone, CH (2014). Alessia taught ballet and modern dance to pre-professional level students both in Switzerland and New York. She is also a certified GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® instructor. She is the founder and artistic director of the festival Ticino in Danza, that from 2013 takes place in Switzerland.
