About the Artist
Founded in 1997 by Matt Mitler, Dzieci Theatre, is a spirited ensemble, which balances work on performance with work of service. Integrating techniques garnered from Jerzy Grotowski and Peter Brook, humanistic psychology, and ritual forms derived from a variety of spiritual disciplines, Dzieci is committed to Art as a path for transformation. The company has been presented in theaters, schools, hospitals, cabarets, and houses of worship, including The Cathedral of St. John the Divine where their signature piece, Fool’s Mass, has been a holiday event for fifteen seasons. Mr. Mitler and Dzieci are featured in the anthology, Working on the Inside: The Spiritual Life Through the Eyes of Actors and profiled in the current edition of The Encyclopedia of Religion.
