About This Show

New Yorkers throw away 12,000 tons of trash a day. In a city of 27,000 people per square mile, there is only room for so much. Inspired by the work of Mierle Laderman Ukeles, Jane Jacobs, and the Department of Sanitation, Bottom Feeder uses cycles of growth and decay to explore the objects, oral histories, communities, and relationships that are cleared and created every day in the ongoing sanitization of New York City.
