AMERICAN DANCE FESTIVAL AND DIXON PLACE PRESENT: ADF @ DIXON PLACE Featuring: dendy/donovan projects, seymour::dancecollective, The DASH ensemble and Sara Juli

About This Show

The American Dance Festival is pleased to co-produce an exciting, 70-minute showcase featuring dendy/donovan projects, Sara Juli, The DASH ensemble, and seymour::dancecollective. dendy/donovan projects will present an excerpt from their new work, The Age of Anxiety, which traces contemporary agitation in the body (politic) and is a response to the resurgence of fascism in our culture today. Sara Juli explores the decay and detritus of a once-promising marriage in Burnt-Out Wife using her comedic text-driven dance style. The DASH ensemble, under the direction of Gregory Dolbashian, presents Grown Up Fairy Tales, which asks the audience to locate themselves in the performers, recognize their own dramas translated into fierce, physical language, and see themselves falling and flying as the hero of their own existence. Gaze, choreographed by Chafin Seymour for his seymour::dancecollective, uses a hybrid movement vocabulary, vibrant physicality, diverse musicality, and wry sense of humor to invite its audience to engage with their own subjectivity around masculinity and its presentation.
