A Butcher’s Tale (or a Butcher’s Wife’s Tale) a new play with songs, follows an escaped cow who runs away from a butcher and his family into the suburban woods. A couple and their engagement photographer find him and take it to be their call to activism. The butcher’s daughter, decides to take matters into her own hands by grabbing dad’s rifle and sniffing out the cow herself, who is quickly becoming the latest internet sensation.

About the Artists

Jeana Scotti (playwright) is a native New Yorker who writes plays. Latest work includes: Marie (reading, dir. Mia Rovegno, Ensemble Studio Theatre), A Holy Kiss (staged reading, dir. Pirronne Yousefzadeh, Rutgers University), My Ugly Kid (InVersion Theatre, The Tank), Like Jelly (staged reading, Dixon Place), and Baby’s Breath (Dream Up Festival, Theater for a New City).  She is an MFA Playwriting candidate at Rutgers Mason Gross.

Michael Zavorskas is a composer and educator. He creates music for acoustic instruments, computers, dance, and video. Michael is currently pursuing a PhD in composition from Rutgers University.

Kelsey Lurie is a theater artist based in Brooklyn. Her work has been seen at The Brick, Barton Booths Make Room Residency, Dixon Place, The Exponential Festival, Interrobang New Works Festival, Piggies Amusement Complex, The Tank, Theaterlab and Vital Joint. She has studied with Theater Mitu and assisted Target Margin and Ripe Time. Graduate of the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Purchase College with a B.A. in Theatre and Performance Studies.
