About the Artists

International choreographer Hee Ra Yoo founded the New York modern dance company “Yoo and Dancers” in 2009 after completing the MFA program at NYU Tisch. Before moving to New York City in 2007, Ms. Yoo danced with the Korean National Ballet, the California Ballet, the San Diego City Ballet, the Canberra Dance Theatre in Australia. Ms. Yoo has taught dance at Tulane University and as a guest teacher in Japan, Canada, Italy, Korea, and Austria, and coached the Australian and Korean Olympic Gymnastics Teams. In New York City, Ms. Yoo has taught at Steps on Broadway, the Joffrey Ballet School, DNA (Gibney Dance Center), and Peridance. Yoo and Dancers was in residency at 92y in 2018-19. Now she teaches at SUNY Brockport New York.

Swedish born and raised Artistic Director and Choreographer, Johanna LjungQvist-Brinson, is a graduate from The University of Dance & Circus (DOCH) in Stockholm, Sweden. She founded Hanna Q Dance Company in 2013 and  has been performing original works ever since.The company has performed in venues mostly in NYC, including Dixon Place, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Dance Festival, TADA!Theater, The Actors Fund Arts Center, Green Space, New York Live Arts, The Triskelion Arts,  NY City Center and West End Theater.

Lian Kizner is a dancer and choreographer who recently graduated from Lehman college with a Dance and Psychology BA. Lian aspires to create work that makes people aware and question aspects of the human experience. In 2018, she received the BWPS Grant to produce her own dance show, in collaboration with Stephen Galvan. This show was titled ‘SteLi’ and was performed at the Kraine Theater in June, 2019. She is now the Co-founder of SteLi Dance Company and Co-creator of SteLi Productions, LLC.

Shachi Phene is a Manhattan-based dancer, teacher, and choreographer with twenty years of experience in Indian classical, film, and folk dance. She trained in Bharathanatyam under Gurus Ranjani Saigal, Kausalya Srinivasan, and Sunanda Narayanan, and currently studies Kathak under Barkha Patel. Shachi spent five years with Ajna Dance, serving as Assistant Director from 2016-2017. Her highly expressive and nuanced choreographies have been performed at United Nations, Ellis Island, 8 in Show, the Rubin Museum, the American India Foundation, Collective Thread, KoDaFe, and more. She enjoys creating works for stage and film and passing on the art form to her students. 

Yuki Hasegawa is a choreographer, dancer, and dance teacher originally from Japan. Ms. Hasegawa began her dance when she was the age of three. After she graduated from Kobe College, she had performed in major musicals in Tokyo, such as Oliver, Golden Boy, No, No, Nanette, Little House on the Prairie, and SANADA, as well as TV programs and films before she moved to US. She founded Azul Dance Theatre in NY, right after she graduated from NYU with her MA in Dance and Dance Education. She is a recipient of CUNY Dance Initiative Residency Roger in 2016, and premiered her work “Vision” at Tribeca Performing Arts Center. She also presented her works in NY venues: Ailey Citigroup Theater, Salvatore Capezio Theater, and 92nd Street Y.
