1001 Nights: Love Stories on Death Row A new Rock Ballet by The Kandake Dance Theatre for Social Change
About This Show
In this socio-political dance piece, Scheherazade is no longer a Queen staving off execution by her cruel husband but a woman condemned to death by the criminal justice system. This new retelling explores “minority” in terms of ethnicity, religion, sex and sexual orientation within Western and Eastern cultures and take a critical look at the American prison-industrial complex.
