Ranardo-Domeico Grays, artistic director and choreographer of VISIONS Contemporary Ballet and a three-year brain cancer survivor, is now creatively flourishing with a new ballet, “Through the Valley,” inspired by his journey.  In “Healing Works,” the company’s 10-year anniversary performance, Ranardo presents “Through the Valley” and two other inspirational contemporary ballet works.” “Through the Valley” explores facing obstacles in one’s fight for health and life. “Beautiful Madness,” based on three poems written and read by Ranardo, reveals three sides of one person and will be performed by Rebekah Kennedy, returning original founding member.  “Roots,” rooted in prayer, is about self-growth.

about the artist

Ranardo-Domeico Grays (SAG/AFTRA, AEA), founder/artistic director of VISIONS Contemporary Ballet, is an alumnus of The Juilliard School, Cal Arts (BFA), the Alvin Ailey School, and Interlochen Arts Academy.  He has performed with Sensedance, Rebecca Kelly Ballet, Urban Wash, La Toya Jackson, Garth Fagan, Zack Morris, and has choreographed for TV and Off Broadway. VISIONS has been presented by Dixon Place in ‪‪Moving Men and Under Exposed; Harlem Arts Festival; Wassaic Festival; Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center in Souls of Our Feet and PEEKS; American Cancer Society; Fertile Ground; Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance; The Field/LMCC/Harlem Arts Alliance and Abrons Arts Center.  Ranardo is a brain cancer survivor!
