Dixon Place Bookfair!
We have a fabulous opportunity to raise some funds for our capital project. This coming Friday, Saturday & Sunday – the 28th, 29th & 30th, Barnes & Noble is hosting what they call a ‘Book Fair’ that benefits DP. They’ve provided ‘vouchers’ that, when presented at the cash register, represent dollars for our new building! In fact, when making a purchase, one can simply ask for a voucher at the checkout counter (or just click on the image to the left and print out the coupon).
We kick off the weekend-long fundraiser with a reading by Mike Albo and Josh Kilmer-Purcell on Friday, April 28 at 7:00pm at Barnes & Noble Astor Place.
In addition to joining us at the reading, here are three ways to support Dixon Place this weekend:
- Go to Astor Place B&N between 10am & 10pm and buy something. For every book purchase made with a voucher, DP receives a percentage of the sale. The more sold, the higher the percentage. Think about upcoming special occasions – birthdays, advance Xmas shopping, Mother’s Day. Make a list & head over to Astor Place Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
- Tell your friends & family to do the same. (You could even forward this email to your pals.)
- Help the DP staff on one of those days - volunteer for an hour or two at our table on the second floor of the store. B&N sets up a table for us where we can hand out vouchers & talk to folks about DP. I did it last year for several hours & had a pretty good time. It’s also an opportunity for you to spend some time with DP staff members & artists. We’d like to have two people at the table for the entire 36 hours & would be very grateful if you can join us.
